Jeff Poppinga -

Pastor

Jeff has been the pastor of Faith Baptist since May of 2004. Prior to coming to Faith Baptist, Jeff pastored churches in Spearfish, SD (2002-2004), and Trimble, MO (1998-2002). He graduated with a BA in Biblical Studies from Clear Creek Bible College in Pineville, KY in December of 1997 and then in November of 2020 he finished his Master of Divinity through the Kairos program through Sioux Falls Seminary. Jeff and his wife, Lori, were married in 1991 and to their union were added 9 children: JP (Jeff Jr.), Kezia, Tirzah, Jericho, Elasa, Justus, Jadon, Selah, and Gracia. Jeff and Lori continue to enjoy their family and are especially now enjoying their 4 (soon to be 5) grandkids who live near by. Jeff's desire is to see people come to Jesus and learn from Jesus according to Jesus' personal invitation given in Matthew 11:28-30.

Tanner Van Beek

Associate Pastor

Tanner joined Faith Baptist as the associate pastor in August of 2023. Born and raised in Rock Valley, IA, he knows the area well and is excited about what God is doing in NW Iowa. Before coming to Faith Baptist, Tanner worked in campus ministry in Des Moines (2020-2021) and served on a church plant in Providence, Rhode Island (2021-2023). He graduated with a BA in pastoral studies from Faith Baptist Bible College in 2020. Tanner and his wife, Brynn, who he affectionately refers to as his “brain”, were married in 2021 and are anxiously expecting a baby girl in November! Tanner enjoys reading, playing basketball, and watching cooking shows with Brynn. His desire as a pastor is to minister the Word of God and watch the Holy Spirit open people’s eyes to the glory of God revealed to us in Jesus and His finished work (2 Cor 4:6).

Rachael McCarthy

Secretary

Rachael joined the staff of FBC in 2015. She moved to Rock Rapids with her family from the Chicago suburbs in 2014, after her husband Pete accepted a job in Sioux Falls. They have 3 children: Noelle, Ethan, and Maggie. In her personal time, Rachael continues to be involved with a non-profit billboard ministry, putting God's Word up in public spaces in central Lake County, IL.
