Dear Faith Baptist Family,
Good afternoon! I pray that the Lord has given you straight paths as you acknowledge him in all your ways. Let us continue to trust in the Lord with all our heart rather than leaning on our own understanding and feelings (see Proverbs 3:5-6).
It is so important for us to think rightly about church but it is so easy to think incorrectly. Let us be careful not to lean on our own understanding when it comes to the church. Paul identifies two faulty ways of thinking within the body of Christ. These two faulty ideas are that the body does not need you or that you do not need the body (see 1 Corinthians 12:14-26). The truth is that the body does not consist of one member but of many and all believers are individually members of this one body (see 1 Cor 12:14, 27). In other words, the church needs you and you need the church. God designed the body this way! Belonging to a church is about receiving and giving. Belonging to a church family is about receiving blessings through the other God gifted members. But belonging to a church family is also about sharing your God given gifts with the other members. We have each been given gifts so let us put them to use for the glory of God and for the good and growth of the church.
